ASL glove, fame and frustration
|
| |
Colorado, USA (GJS): Ryan Patterson carved an indelible name for himself in the Grand Valley and beyond in 2001 when he invented the sign-language translator glove, which translates American Sign Language into English using an LED readout. […] Patterson’s glove won the state science fair and took top awards at Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. It also won first in the 2001 Intel Science Talent Search. The glove took him to Sweden, where he collected the Junior Nobel Prize. But it still hasn’t been patented.
