EU Quaero project includes automatic translation
|
| |
Hanover, Germany (Heise Online):The Quaero project aims to digitalize the inventory of European libraries, as a European response to Google's Book Search, which critics believe runs the risk of extending the Anglo-Saxon dominance of writing on the Web. The initiators aim to develop their own search engine for images, videos, and audio. The search hits are to be automatically translated into the user's language. Quaero is to run on PCs, cell phones, and televisions. For some time, it was hard to find partners for the German part of the project.
