Information access for the illiterate
|

Pretoria, South Africa (Tectonic): OpenPhone is an open-source telephony platform that aims to give people access to information and governmental services over a standard telephone service using touch-tone dialing and voice recognition.
Using a keypad, or in some cases just their voice, users on the OpenPhone platform will be able to access government services and information with a standard telephone.
Hopefully with time the OpenPhone service will be available in all 11 official languages in South Africa.
