Tennessee, USA (Knoxville News Sentinel): OSTI has been delivering authoritative science information since 1947, and has developed a suite of Web tools specifically for that purpose.
Launched in 2002, science.gov provides public access to 17 United States government science organizations, 30 databases, more than 1,700 science Web sites and 47 million pages of government science information. Use of the site is free and requires no registration. Users may search or browse the site.
Scirus is another search engine devoted to scientific information. Scirus searches more than 167 million science-related Web pages, and it covers both freely available scientific information on the Web and information from Elsevier proprietary databases.
