Hi-tech hearing aid
|
| |
Cape Town, South Africa (Cape Argus) A hi-tech hearing aid, called Acuris, is the first to mimic the way the brain naturally processes sounds. Two tiny devices sit inside each ear and are programmed to constantly communicate with each other to adjust the direction and volume of sound.
Most hearing aids either just amplify sound or filter out background-noise. The Acuris is the first to tell the patient where the noise is coming from - a major issue for people with hearing loss as it can cause disorientation and even affect their balance.
