Text messaging: new, silent language

Illinois, USA (Herald & Review): Text messaging and instant messaging lingo could be this generation's way of creating a language of its own. Some language purists may resist any changes. But others recognize language is organic and changes continually. Insisting on shared linguistic conventions may just slow down the evolution of language to a pace most language users can keep up with.
