Ontario, Canada (Globe and Mail): Cisco and Telus are to help launch a voice-over-Internet (VoIP) phone system for residential customers in Canada later this year. VoIP technology compresses voice and data traffic into packets that can be sent together over a single computer network or the Internet. Cogeco's digital phone service will be based on network technology provided by Cisco Systems, including Internet Protocol (IP) softswitches and voice gateways
