Banned Turkmen author receives PEN Freedom to Write award
Washington, USA (UsInfo): A Turkmen writer, whose historical trilogy is banned in his native Turkmenistan, has received international recognition at a recent writers’ group meeting in the United States. Rakhim Esenov, 79, accepted a Freedom to Write award from PEN American Center at the annual dinner on April 18 in New York. The award each year honors three writers who have fought for the right of freedom of expression.
