New Hampshire, USA (Nashua Telegraph): Under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, not providing medical interpretation, including the translation of vital documents, violates the federal law. [Despite this,] an article in the Feb. 4 issue of Finance Watch revealed that although the nation’s immigrant population increased 46 percent from 1990-2003, fewer than a quarter of the country’s hospitals currently employ professional interpreters.
