Canadian civil society communiqué on cultural and linguistic diversity

Massachusetts, USA (Digital Divide Network): Ninety percent of Internet content is in 12 major languages; over 5,000 languages are not represented. Language barriers to information access should be addressed through the development of software applications and multi-cultural and multi-lingual content. This involves the production of local content by groups to build their own knowledge base, and encouraging racial, cultural and gender diversity of content.
