Canberra, Australia: The North Australian Aboriginal Legal Aid Service says 10 per cent of police interviews are unable to be used in court because they breach legislation developed in the 1970s. The law was developed to ensure Aborigines were aware of their right to remain silent in police interviews. But because of language barriers, Indigenous people sometimes do not understand they have this right
