Belgium, Brussels (Mondaq): The 2001 Copyright Directive (2001/29/EC) on the harmonisation of certain aspects of copyright and related rights in the information society was due to be implemented by the Member States by 22 December 2002. The Commission provided a new deadline of July 2003, but Finland, Belgium and Sweden have failed to transpose the directive into their national law and have been ordered to pay the costs.
