Languages used to prevent competition

London, UK: According to report in today’s issue of the Times, the techniques used by certain European countries to prevent competition include demands that bids for contracts be presented in regional dialects and forcing foreign companies to comply with “arcane” local laws in a bid to deter them at the first hurdle.
One third of businesses questioned for the study felt they had lost out because procurement laws had been breached. The countries named for alleged unfair procurement practices include Greece, France, and Spain.
