Georgia, USA: The Dublin Courrier Herald has run an article on the need for State services to be bilingual, given the number of native Sapnish speakers, whether they are illegal immgrants or not. “Whether it be an emergency situation requiring fire, police or EMS help, 911 operators must have the ability to communicate with and understand someone whose first language is not English. Deputies and police officers must have the verbal skills to effectively communicate in the Hispanic language. The changing face of the community necessitates this type of additional training.”
