Translating body language into bits

Illinois, USA (UCNG): Eye movements, facial expressions, hand gestures, body language – all tend to be involved in our face-to-face communications, not to mention the various tones of our voices. If computers are ever going to interact with us by means more natural than a keyboard, a mouse or sometimes flaky voice command software, they will have to be able to read our nonverbal cues. Which is why University of Illinois researchers have developed a computerized system for detecting shrugs.
