The vocabulary factor in language learning

Minnesota, USA (Concordia): According to both research and statements from language-learners, the most significant challenge in acquiring a new language is developing a basic vocabulary in a relatively short time. These two Centennial Classroom Research studies have identified the qualities of effective direct and indirect vocabulary teaching in both a native language setting and a second language setting.
