Transcranial magnetic stimulation
|
| |
(Am.J. Psychiatry): Inttranews has reported on the use of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to solve problems of aphasia. This article published in the American Journal of Psychiatry indicates that although TMS “was generally well tolerated and that no serious side effects occurred, [researchers have] also reported that two of 18 patients developed a manic episode after the third of 10 sessions of transcranial magnetic stimulation. [This is] a severe or even serious adverse event because it has a great impact on someone’s functioning, and it is a potentially life-threatening illness.”
