California, USA: Research seems to indicate that teaching sign language to babies, who have yet to acquire the skills required for vocal communication, reduce frustration levels for the infants and their parents. Babies who sign speak sooner and develop a higher sense of self-confidence, and stop signing once they learn to talk.
