Hearing loss: early intervention can speed language acquisition
|
| |
Texas, USA: This report by the Odessa American, indicates that intervention as early as the age of two years old can speed later language acquisition in children that suffer from hearing loss, and can overcome many of the problems they may encounter later in life.
While the most common reason for hearing loss is hereditary, meningitis and high fever can also affect hearing. If a parent has a suspicion that a child might have hearing loss, it is suggested the parent take the child to their doctor or a licensed audiologist for hearing tests.
