Gradual evolution and endangered species

Vancouver, Canada (CBC News): A type of Asian bird gradually changes across its range into a separate species with its own song and colour pattern, according to Darren Irwin, a zoologist at the University of British Columbia, whose findings challenge the prevailing view that evolution only occurs in geographical isolation.
His study, published Friday in the online issue of “Science” magazine, implies that the world may not be taking the right approach to protect endangered species.
