We have come one step closer to that with the discovery on Friday July 29 of 2003 EL61, a new planet on the outskirts of our own solar system in the Kuiper Belt. 2003 EL61 is 32 percent as massive as Pluto and is estimated to be about 70 percent of Pluto's diameter.
