New York, USA [Reuters Health (registration required)]: Dietary zinc supplementation (20 mg daily) may help seventh graders perform better in school, according to results of a study reported Monday during the American Society of Nutritional Sciences, part of Experimental Biology 2005 underway in San Diego.
The schoolchildren studied also had more correct answers on a word recognition test (9% vs 3%; p < 0.008) and had better scores on a task requiring sustained attention and vigilance (6% vs 1%; p < 0.03).
