MAUDE database on cochlear implants inadequate

New York, USA [WebMD Medscape (registration required)]: The federal database for mandatory reporting of complications involving medical devices, as it is currently set up, is limited in its ability to analyze trends in cochlear implant complications, study results suggest.
The Manufacturer User Facility and Distributor Experience (MAUDE) database, maintained by the Food and Drug Administration, includes data on a wide variety of medical devices, including cochlear implants.
