Arizona, USA (Arizona Republic): The Chicago-based Alzheimer's Association said the number of Hispanics afflicted with Alzheimer's and related dementias is expected to increase more than sixfold in the United States by 2050. That means that 1.3 million Hispanics will suffer from the disease, compared with today's number of 200,000, researchers say.
Symptoms of the progressive, irreversible neurological disorder include gradual memory loss, impairment of judgment, disorientation, difficulty in learning and loss of language skills.
