Cochlear implants reflect progress in neurosurgery
|

Chennai, India: At the second National Conference of Cochlear Implant Group of India (CIGI) held in Chennai recently, cochlear implants were said to be far ahead of other neurosurgical techniques.
Cochlear implants bypass the cochlea and sends signals directly through the nerve to the brain. The discovery was made in late 1980s by Professor Greame Clark of Melbourne University, who is considered by many as the father of Cochlear implantation.
