Foreign dictionary

The Hague, Holland (Expatica): The Van Dale Groot Leenwoordenboek, published this week, shows that for centuries the Dutch language has practiced a generous 'admissions policy' for foreign words.
Besides being a reference work, the new dictionary is also a language book, a history book and an interesting read. For each foreign language, Nicoline van der Sijs describes the contact between the Dutch and speakers of that language and gives examples of borrowed words, down to the English ones Dutch rappers like Def P use in their lyrics.
