Are dictionaries obsolete?

New York, USA (Newsday): Many tourists still carry an antiquated object with words on printed pages. This is generically called a "book" - or, more specifically, a dictionary. Pocket electronic guides are less bulky, more fun, and these days, they're bargains as well. Be aware, though, that they aren't dictionaries in the strict sense, because, generally, word definitions are not supplied.
