NSF grant help preserve the endangered Chamorro language

Hagatna, Guam (Currents): UCSC professor of linguistics Sandra Chung has been awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation for a collaborative project to help preserve the endangered Chamorro language. Chamorro is an Austronesian language spoken by 45,000 people in the unincorporated U.S. territory of Guam and in the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
