Cardiff, Wales (ic Wales): Wales is spearheading a drive to help minority European languages survive and thrive. The Welsh Language Board has been awarded more than 500,000 (£345,000) to run an innovative project for 11 minority languages. The money will see 18 language organisations across Europe work together to share ways of ensuring such minority and regional languages, such as Welsh, Catalan and Friesian are not lost in the modern world.
