Documenting Endangered Languages
|
| |
Washington, USA (AA): Throughout the world, thousands of languages are at risk of disappearing, but researchers are documenting and recording these linguistic links to history. […] A program sponsored jointly by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) – Documenting Endangered Languages – has awarded $9.4 million over the past two years to researchers and native speakers seeking to document and create digital records of languages threatened with extinction. About half of the grants support work on American Indian languages.
