Daf Yomi

New York, USA (Northjersey.com): The only way to keep a language alive is by using it. This was proven by the Jewish method of study called the Daf Yomi, or ‘daily page’, launched in Poland in 1923 to keep Talmud study alive. Tuesday night celebrates the 11th cycle since the page-a-day practice began. At the celebratory event, called a Siyum Hashas (Talmud completion), the last and first sentences of the Talmud will be read - finishing one cycle and starting another.
