Florida, USA (Biz): Wycliffe Bible Translators announced Monday they have received the largest estate gift in its history: a $2.8 million check from the Dr. Winifred Weter estate of Seattle, Wash. Weter earned a doctorate from the University of Chicago in 1933. She then joined the faculty of Seattle Pacific University where she taught Greek and Latin for 40 years. In addition to many Wycliffe translators, Weter also taught Eugene Peterson, best-selling author of "The Message," a contemporary paraphrase of the New Testament translated from Greek.
