Saipan: translators included among foreign nationals that can be employed by government
|

Saipan, Micronesia (Tribune): All government jobs are reserved for citizens. There are only three exceptions. First, physicians and dentists who hold board certification in the United States (but who are foreign nationals) and who are licensed to practice in the Commonwealth can be employed by CHC. Second, foreign nationals can be employed by the Department of Commerce as temporary workers to take the census every 10 years. And third, the courts and several government departments can employ foreign nationals as translators if they meet certain guidelines approved by the Attorney General.
