US Army extends $380 million contract with L-3

California, USA (San Diego Union Tribune): L-3 Communications, which became the biggest provider of language services to the U.S. military after acquiring San Diego's Titan Corp., won a six-month extension of its $380 million contract to provide translators in Iraq. L-3 will handle the work at least until September because more time is needed to complete a competition for a new award, an Army spokesman told Bloomberg News. It's the third time the service has delayed the bidding process. L-3 was already in line to dominate the competition for nearly $3 billion in Army translation contracts in the next five years, said Peter Arment, an analyst at JSA Research.
