Landmark translation named Hawaii Book of the Year

Hawaii, USA (Star Bulletin): Puakea Nogelmeier's landmark translation of the Hawaiian legend of Hi'iaka was named Hawai'i Book of the Year last night at the Hawai'i Book Publishers Association 2008 Ka Palapala Po'okela book awards. "The Epic Tale of Hi'iakaikapoliopele," published by Awaiaulu Press, is a 495-page book with color illustrations by Solomon Enos that tells the story of Pele's younger sister, Hi'iaka.
